Steps

  1. Download PrimerSeq here. Currently there is only a 64bit download likely to support Mac OS X 10.6+.

  2. Unzip the tarball and place the contents on the Desktop (not in /Applications)

  3. Double click ”RUN.command” to start PrimerSeq (not “PrimerApp”). Some Mac OS X versions use Gatekeeper to block applications not downloaded from the app store. If this is the case, please do the following:

    • Right-click (or control-click) the application in question and choose “Open”
    • Click the “Open” button at the next dialog warning to launch the app anyway
PrimerSeq requires the Java JRE to run. If PrimerSeq gives you an error message about Java (Java is not pre-installed on Mac OS X 10.7+), then you will need to install java:
http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp?locale=en
Mac OS X users are recommended to have X11. You can install X11 using XQuartz. Some Mac OS X versions may install X11 in the /opt/X11 directory. PrimerSeq requires that X11 be found in /usr/X11. Thus after installing XQuartz, check if the directory /opt/X11 was created. If so, then open the terminal and type sudo ln -s /opt/X11 /usr/X11 to fix the linking issue.
